On Santa Run Day....

Please do not forget to sign in for this years world record yo yo attempt, when you have registered please go to the Guinness World Record tent and sign in and get your Yo Yo and this includes spectators as well on the day...

This may be your first time as a runner, or you could be an experienced Santa, either way this page is designed to help you get the most out of the day. All the fun starts here Sunday 4th December 2005..


Registration opens at 6.30am in the town hall grounds all children and adults will register here and collect their number.

Adults please register from 6.30am till 10.00am all local runners please sign in first before 8.30am

Children please register from 11.30am till 12.30pm in the town hall grounds with an adult please.

7.30am the big stage lights up with live music, fun in the park, radio Maldwyn road show, Santa aerobics, fancy dress competition and don’t forget big money prizes for the best dressed on the day. This year you can also text a message on the day to a friend on the two big screens in the town centre and win a major prize on the day.

10.30am All Santa’s start to walk down to the starting in line from the park so if you are a serious runner please be at the front we are expecting 5,000 Santa’s on the day running and that does not include the children Santa’s.

11.00am Dame Tanni Grey Thompson will be starting the race and Newtown and District Dial a Ride are very pleased that Tanni is taking the time to come and visit this years Santa run. Please take a look at the events news page for more details on Tanni.

The adults have 3 hours to get round the 4.5-mile route, which has some little hills, but for wheelchair entrants the course is wheelchair friendly so there are no kerbs or steps.

All runners pick up two badges from check points at the Shuttle Public House and the check point in the car park by the post office, there will be two great big inflatables showing the way..

While the run is happening there will be allsorts of activates going on around the course, first thing you will see is over 25 huge inflatables marking the route so you should not get lost on the day. The party in the park will be in full swing so when you have finished your festive run why not sit back and relax with the bands and fun and games which will be going on till 3.00pm.

12.30pm the children will meet in the park ready to start their race with Santa aerobics and fancy dress.
